First and foremost it is best to not overload the dryer. Also, it is very important to not forget to clean out the lint trap and where it sits after every use. It is a good idea to remove all foreign objects from pockets of clothing and secure loose ties or clips that can get stuck or jammed in the unit. Be sure that the exhaust duct is wide enough and made of a rigid or semi-rigid material, and most importantly clear and free of any debris. It is also a good idea to have the dryer vent cleaned once a year. Lastly Dryer sheets can leave a film on your lint filter – so clean the filter with a tooth brush once a month to keep it clear and your machine efficient!
