Italian Butter Cookies

Italian butter cookies are something that almost everyone knows and loves, what people don’t know is that they are much easier then they look and you can virtually make any shape your heart desires. Don’t let the pastry bag intimidate you, if you never used one before it’s a great time to start and play around, besides no matter what the shape of the cookie is, it will still taste just as delicious! Sine we got that out of the way lets preheat our Thermador wall oven to pure convection 325 degrees and make some Italian butter cookie dough. While the oven is preheating I line my baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside while I add the butter and sugar to my kitchen aid stand mixer and beat until cream and fluffy. I then add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined and slowly add the dry ingredients until just combined, now the fun part scoop the dough into the pastry bag and just have fun. I made star like shapes and then put them in the oven to bake for about 12 minutes. I then took them out of the oven to cool, melted some chocolate on the Thermador freedom induction cook top and dabbed a little in the center of each cookie. You could dip them in chocolate and top them with sprinkles or chocolate curls, you can sandwich the cookies together with your favorite jam or spread, the possibilities are endless. I put them on a platter to serve and was asked multiple times what bakery I had purchased them at, I couldn’t help but smile! If you’re looking to impress yourself and your guests make these you will not be disappointed.
