It seems that no matter how our daily schedule unfolds, there are never quite enough hours in the day to get anything done. After a full day of work, car pooling kids, and just plain running around the last thing anyone wants to do is tidy up.

Fortunately, keeping a house in ship shape is more about time management than actually getting down and dirty. Taking a little time to pre plan household chores can save a lot of time in the long run.

Compile a List: Ever go on a cleaning frenzy only to find out those boxes you swore you’d clean out are still taking up residency in your hallway. It’s easy for simple tasks to slip through the cracks when you have so much on your plate. Start by making a list of all chores that need to be done that day; even down to feeding furry friends. Then, prioritize everything into three categories depending on level of importance. As you clean, go down the list starting with the most important tasks. By the time you’ve reached the end of your list, you’ll know you’ve already checked off the most crucial tasks.

Make an all purpose cleaner: Most of us have an entire shelf if not closet dedicated to a myriad of cleaning products. This makes simple tasks like cleaning an oven way more invasive than it should be. An all purpose cleaner eliminates the need to tote around harsh chemical ridden cleaners for different areas of the home.

For an easy all purpose cleaner: Combine 4 tablespoons baking soda and 2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol with one quart warm water and shake well. This can be used for most surfaces and just needs to be wiped down with warm water.

Do a steam clean. Steam is a vastly underused commodity when it comes to cleaning. Give your bathroom a mini facial by cranking the shower as hot as it will for for about five minutes. Spritz some all purpose cleaner and wipe down with a clean bath towel. Good as new!

Run the dishwasher – Professional household cleaners swear by this. Effortlessly clean soap dishes, toothbrush holders, children’s toys, dish drains, range hood filters and a number of other items.. If it’s hard plastic, glass, ceramic or metal—and it’ll fit—run it through.

Throw it on the floor – If you’re doing a full vacuum, avoid scrubbing down every surface and wipe all crumbs, dirt and debris onto the floor or carpet. Leave the vacuuming for last and let the crumbs fall where they may.

Cleaning your home doesn’t have to be a daunting task if you manage it the right way. Taking the time to invest in your home will leave you more time to enjoy friends family, and loved ones. Follow these time saving tips and you’ll be outside sipping Sangria in no time!
