Why are the items in my crisper drawers freezing?

If you’re finding that you’re getting ice and frost in your crisper drawers it may be a simple fix! First take everything out and wipe the drawers down to get rid of any moisture. If your produce is wet, get rid of any excess moisture then make sure your settings are correct. Some fridges have settings for either fruit (low humidity) or vegetables (high humidity) but some fridges have settings that just read low or high. Items that could produce high amounts of ethylene gas and aren’t sensitive to moisture loss like apples, avocados, and peaches should be set on low humidity while items that are sensitive to ethylene gas and moisture loss like leafy greens, peppers, and strawberries should be set on high humidity. In most cases this will correct the freezing in the crisper drawers, which can be caused by incorrect humidity settings and excess moisture leftover from washing your produce.
