Fall Activities to Beat the Summer Blues

on September 1 | in Tips & Tricks | by | with No Comments

It seems like a lot of us fall into the seasonal pattern of waiting all year for the summer months to come, only to pass far too quickly and leave us waiting for the warm weather again. This year, why not amp up your autumn and fill the windy months with some fun activities that will make missing the summer a thing of the past. With comfy sweaters and a plethora of great fall foods, what’s not to love?

Go on A Hayride– Simple pleasures like these is what Fall is all about. Grab a warm cup cocoa with kids for a fun family outing or straddle up with some boozy cider for a romantic date night.

Plan an Apple Picking Day– America’s favorite fruit is officially in season during the Fall months and can be utilized in every recipe from pies to potpourri. Pick a sunny and pack some snacks for an all day adventure.  Try your hand at canning your own applesauce and freeze some extra for the cold wintery nights.

Make Your Own Halloween Decorations– Of course you can purchase these at any local store but with so many online tutorials, get crafty and make them yourself. It’s a fun family project that allows you to make your monsters and scary or as silly as you want!

Volunteer at A Shelter– As the holidays draw nearer, it’s important to reflect back on the gratitude we all have for the fortunate opportunities in our lives. Giving back is an essential part of this as we spread our fortune to others in need. Consult one of your local charities and see if there’s a day you can help serve holiday meals, make blankets, or donate your time.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride– See the world from a different perspective and get in touch with your adventurous side. Riding in a hot air balloon is one of those experiences that seems slightly magical once your high in the sky. Take pictures and if you’re going with young ones, tell them to draw a picture of what they saw on their view from the top.

Tailgate, Tailgate, Tailgate! Fire up that grill one last time and support your favorite teams with food, drinks, and tons of fun. Tailgates are a great way to get to know people in your neighborhood and bring out some team spirit.

Host a Bonfire– There’s nothing more comforting than roasting marshmallows in front of a warm fire on a chilly night. Crank up some country music and invite friends and family over for a night of boozy cider, snacks, and simple games.  It’s a surefire way to bring people together and enjoy the season.

Just because the summers winding down, doesn’t mean the fun has to come to an end. Make the best of the changing seasons by spending as much time outside as possible and enjoy the beautiful landscape no matter where you live as the leaves start to change. By the time winter comes, you’ll be more than ready to curl up in front of the fireplace and get ready for the next season of sandy beaches.
